Surviving menopause

By Jena Griffiths | December 1, 2014

Sometimes we have a midlife crisis and we don’t realise we are having it. The world gets shaky under our feet or it feels like things are falling apart, and we are not sure if it is us or the world doing the shaking.

This is a bit like puberty all over again but without parents around to blame or rebel against. The danger is to turn all this emotion inwards to hate, blame or rebel against your own inner crone, or your still-locked-in-the-cellar inner genius.

For women, this is called “menopause” because that’s precisely what it feels like. Men-oh-pause : a period in your life when you are, quite honesty, not that much fun to be around, and don’t feel up to being sexy or attractive or a solid rock foundation for someone else’s empire, shack or establishment. The ground is shifting and we try to ignore it. A bit like in California or Japan where there is a tectonic shift under foot. One solid “terra firm” is sliding under another and what the future landscape will look like, or how long this is going to take, can only be wildly guessed at.

The real problem is, like Californians or the Japanese, we are mostly in denial that radical change is inevitable. We cross our fingers and hope not to die while re-building nuclear power stations or factories that could implode the world, all self excused away as how to pay for our children’s college education or how to keep ourselves warm and cosy in old age. While day by day, the ground shudders or trembles with occasional hot flushes to remind us of a new world wanting to be birthed.

We are our own midwives. And who knows what the future will look like.
Love who you are.
Perhaps, right now, you are the caterpillar dreaming of your butterfly self. Or the nameless, shapeless ooze “in process” during the cocoon phase where total meltdown is inevitable.

And, whether you are 28 or 98, give yourself space to shift, grow, change, re-dream, press pause, do-as-you-damn-well-please and then one day who-knows-when unfold your shaky delicate wings and soar. Breathing hope, and awe and inspiration into the hearts and lungs and wearied bodies of all of follow in your footsteps.

Collective Manifestation is part self-help guide, part social-change manifesto.

Begin with yin
Says Kris Steinnes: This is “…a template to build what your heart desires. Whether it’s a community, a program, or a business, Melissa shares tools and meditation processes that will help you to begin the process and take it to a new level of awareness.
What’s particularly special in this template is that it begins with the energy – the yin process. Most of us are used to action – you make a decision, and go for it.”

How does the universe work?

By Jena Griffiths | November 13, 2014

By far the best explanation I’ve come across so far.
Brilliant! And so simple as a concept which makes me think it probably is accurate.
A new blueprint for reality? Eleven dimensions. Wow!
At the moment this is just a highly controversial idea by an out of the box thinker. Read the rest of this entry »

Are you gay or straight?

By Jena Griffiths | November 10, 2014

We humans are really good at torturing ourselves and others over everything under the sun.

crippling our childrenThe Ancient Chinese were guilty of foot-binding, stunting growth and crippling their daughters’ feet to make them more eligible for marriage.
Yet aren’t all of us guilty in some way for maiming our children with our hopes and dreams for them without considering who they are as spiritual beings?

Ending the struggle

By Jena Griffiths | November 7, 2014

I was listening to Arielle Ford interview Neale Donald Walsch last night while riding my indoor bike (snow outside). Neale was talking about how to end the struggle in your life by expressing your divinity.
Neale has distilled his teachings into three main principles. I thought I’d post his key ideas here because I totally resonate. Although I would prefer it if he used the word “Spirit” or “Universe” instead of “God” I still think his principles are sound. I like the idea that you are perfect just as you are and life is not about growth but about have more and more opportunities to express who you really are.

Regarding Life Purpose, Neale says:
You are being invited to express your divinity.
It is not what you are doing but what you are being.

His 3 principles to turn your life around are:
1. Be the source
You are not here to learn or evolve but to express who you really are.
Whatever it is you want, give it to someone else.

2. See the perfection Read the rest of this entry »

What to do about back pain or sciatica

By Jena Griffiths | October 27, 2014

Last year I had terrible sciatica. It was an extremely humbling experience as I’m normally very active, sporty and pain-free.
One thing the whole experience taught me was compassion for others. Getting in and out of the car was agony. I remembered how mildly impatient I had been in the past with my poor mother who had really battled climbing our stairs. I felt she simply hadn’t looked after herself. Now I felt and looked like her hanging onto the roof or car door and wincing while trying to get in or out of the driver’s seat. Swimming or lying in bed was agony.

I spent a fortune trying to find a solution, trying every healing art that I thought might help. I got some relief from someone who spent and hour a week stretching the leg tendon, but the result was worse in the end because I became even more out of balance. Eventually one hip was 6cm higher than the other!

Fortunately a friend told me about a traditional oesteopath who was able to diagnose the cause and I did research and read more about it before going there. She used stomach massage to move my organs (Kidneys, liver etc) back into position and within half an hour my hips were 100% level again! I was amazed and delighted. It took a few more treatments to fully recover, and rebalance, but I was healed. I hate to think what may have happened to me had I not found her and the colleague she referred me to for the follow up sessions.

I thought I would post this here in case it helped someone else in future looking for Read the rest of this entry »
