Thank you Madiba

By Jena Griffiths | December 8, 2013

The full version of this quote. And, in my view, the most important thing anyone has said in the last millennium:
“Overcoming poverty is not a task of charity, it is an act of justice. Like Slavery and Apartheid, poverty is not natural. It is man-made and it can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings. Sometimes it falls on a generation to be great. YOU can be that great generation. Let your greatness blossom.” – Nelson Mandela

Dear Madiba, dear Rolihlahla,
Thank you for “shaking the tree”
awake.
May we all rise to your challenge.
May your courage, humility and largeness of spirit
live on
in each of us.

And may we remember your words in our darkest hour:
“It always seems impossible until it’s done.” – Nelson Mandela

Hamba kahle (go well) great soul.
